How RAM Affects Gaming

RAM is more than a number on a specification sheet. Capacity and memory configuration can influence how smoothly a game runs.

Capacity

Games, Windows and background applications all use system memory. When available RAM becomes tight, the system may have less room for active game data.

Dual-channel vs single-channel

Memory configuration affects bandwidth. This can be particularly important for integrated graphics, which often share system memory with the CPU.

More RAM isn't always more FPS

Adding memory does not automatically increase frame rate. If the GPU is already the main limit, extra capacity may have little effect on average FPS.

Why RigMetric asks for RAM

RAM helps RigMetric identify systems that may face memory-related constraints and gives more context than GPU and CPU selection alone.
